Children’s Aid is the lead partner for the Community School Initiative at Curtis High School. We are looking for a highly trained candidate with program and management experience and a strong understanding of youth development to serve as the Program Director at this site. The Program Director will Report to the Community School Director.
Responsibilities :
As a member of the Curtis Community School Team, Our Program Director is responsible for :
Supporting fidelity to the Community School model
Leading in the development and implementation of all program components and services
Managing the college access and success program. Supervising the college coaches and overseeing the implementation of the college workshops, college application support and all other college access and success related programs
Supervising the tutors and the tutoring program. Supporting the development and implementation of all education enrichment program components and services
Serving as a liaison for all DYCD programs presently operating at CURTIS High School (COMPASS)
Providing direct on-site and weekly supervision to all component staff members
Developing and implementing a program schedule of activities including staffing, space permits and special events
Supervising weekly contact with all program participants
Assisting the Community School Director in the ongoing program matters, including program and staff evaluation and other relevant matters
Working closely with program evaluators and completing monthly report of program activities, successes, challenges, and upcoming activities to central staff and implementation managers
Collecting, compiling, and analyzing data to be used for program assessment and improvement
Maintaining contact with Children’s Aid Youth Division staff and administration
Attending ongoing meetings and trainings with agency and external stakeholders
Other relevant duties as assigned by the Community School Director
Qualifications :
3-5 years experience working with young people (in school and / or out of school)
Bachelor’s Degree required in Social Work, Education or a related field, Masters Preferred
Exceptional leadership skills and communication skills
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience required
Commitment to professional development
A demonstrated goal-orientation and focus on outcomes and results
Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks with exceptional attention to detail
Ability to work cooperatively with DOE colleagues
Ability and willingness to work collaboratively with Children’s Aid colleagues
A thorough understanding of youth development principles and practice
A history of service to under-resourced communities
Professionalism, sound judgment, foresight, and maturity
An entrepreneurial spirit which embraces creativity and hard work inherent in a start-up
Bilingual (Spanish / English) skills a plus
