Position Summary:

The Quality Assurance Assistant is a member of the Homefinding Unit dedicated to supporting the certification, documentation and recertification of foster homes for Children’s Aid’s foster care program.  The QA Assistant coordinates and maintains the integrity of foster parent records and updates documents in electronic and physical records so that CA foster homes are properly identified in city Placement Modules, are connected with fiscal for proper ongoing reimbursement in board checks and maintains records of investigations, corrective action plans and safety assessments associated with foster home initial certification, recertification and complaints investigated by the city through the Office of Special Investigations (OSI) or the state through the New York City Regional Office Liaison.  The QA Assistant represents Children’s Aid in QA meetings at Children’s Aid, at ACS and at OCFS as required.

 

Essential Duties: 

  • Understand and promote the organization’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure alignment with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Provide Quality Assurance to the Homefinding Department with approximately 500 homes across two foster care programs:  Enhanced Family Foster care and Specialized Family Foster Care working with children who are medically fragile or who have developmental disabilities.
  • Work in close collaboration with Intake staff and Case Planning staff as well as the Administration for Children’s Services of New York City and Office of Children and Family Services of New York State, to ensure the optimal and holistic care of the children in the agency’s care as well as compliance with city and state foster home regulations.
  • Responsible for oversight of compliance including but not limited to: clearances, foster parent training, Safety Assessments and Office of Special Investigations as well as Youth Voices for all foster homes including tracking and documentation.
  • Reviews and approves foster home recertifications.
  • Oversees maintenance of foster parent records within databases and foster home record to ensure compliance, accuracy and consistency.
  • Attends meetings with agency, ACS and OCFS stakeholders to assure Children’s Aid’s knowledge and compliance with new regulations and memoranda from the various governing bodies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.  

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • HS Dipolma/GED required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.

The incumbent is expected to work a schedule, whether in-person or hybrid, as determined by the department's needs to facilitate effective collaboration with the team.  This flexibility is essential for maintaining seamless communication, fostering teamwork, and ensuring the smooth operation of the department's processes.  The position's requirements are subject to periodic review and adjustment based on organizational needs and changes in work dynamics.
