Children’s Bureau of New Orleans is a non-profit mental health agency that aims to increase access to quality mental healthcare for children and youth through strategic partnerships across the city where mental health services are embedded and delivered on-site at partner organizations. We specialize in the delivery of evidence-based grief and trauma interventions that are highly collaborative, culturally responsive, and healing centered.
Children’s Bureau of New Orleans is seeking a compassionate and skilled clinician to deliver evidence-based grief and trauma counseling in a school partnership. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical skills, experience working with individuals impacted by trauma and loss, excitement about/eagerness to learn/experience providing evidence-based clinical interventions. The candidate must possess the ability to build effective relationships with a diverse group of individuals including children and their caregivers.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct clinical assessments to identify the psychological, emotional, and social needs of individual survivors and communities.
- Offer evidence-based therapeutic interventions tailored to the unique needs and cultural backgrounds of each client.
- Collaborate with the response team to support organizations and groups of individuals who have experienced a crisis event.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client services in accordance with professional and organizational standards.
- Participate in ongoing professional development activities to enhance clinical skills and stay informed about best practices in trauma treatment and crisis intervention.
- Knowledge of ethical guidelines and legal regulations governing mental health practice, including confidentiality, informed consent, and mandatory reporting requirements.
- Ensure the provision of evidence-based treatment is culturally responsive and that all interventions are delivered in a way that acknowledge and respect the diverse backgrounds and experiences of youth.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish rapport, convey empathy, and maintain professional boundaries with clients and colleagues.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including school personnel, and community partners.
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of the unique cultural and socio-economic factors affecting youth in the New Orleans area.
- Prior experience working with individuals following a trauma or loss and/or experience in a community mental health settings is preferred.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, or related field.
- Current licensure in the state of Louisiana.
- Demonstrated experience providing trauma-focused therapy and crisis intervention services to individuals of diverse backgrounds and ages.
- Proficiency in evidence-based treatment modalities for trauma and grief.
- Commitment to cultural competence, social justice, and trauma-informed care principles.
Physical requirements:
- This job requires a driver’s license as some driving is required.
- Must have the ability to work from the office and partner site. Occasionally, clinicians will need to attend community-based meetings and trainings.
