What are the responsibilities and job description for the WAAY to Success Family Support Specialist position at Children's Center of Northwest North Carolina?
Summary: The WAAY to Success Family Support Specialist is responsible for determining the eligibility of referrals for programs. The Family Support Specialist also is responsible for outpatient counseling with youth referred by Juvenile Justice and their families along with facilitating CBT groups. This position facilitates counseling sessions for clients to achieve their goals in counseling.
Specific position duties and responsibilities:
- Determines eligibility of referrals for program
- Provides outpatient counseling with youth referred by Juvenile Justice and their families
- Facilitates CBT groups
- Organizes and oversees meal planning and delivery for CBT groups, as well as distributing gas cards for families who participate
- Completes intake process by holding interviews to evaluate immediate needs through relevant assessments and gather additional background information for development of a treatment plan
- Conducts ongoing periodic evaluation monthly and at exit of program
- Communicates with court counselor monthly to provide feedback
- Maintains up-to-date confidential records on clients and conforms to HIPPA standards
- Ensures files and case documentation is up-to-date and reflective of services provided
- Handles client concerns with regards to counseling issues
- Attends bi-weekly case staffing with the WAAY team
- Participates in continuing education relevant to this position
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
General agency duties and responsibilities:

Minimum qualifications:
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in counseling/social work or other closely related field required
- Must possess a NC driver’s license
- Must pass drug screen and background check
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Previous counseling experience working with adults and children required
- Strong oral communications skills
- Ability to motivate and support clients in a non-judgmental manner
- Ability to prioritize all aspects of the job
- Strong problem solving skills
- Must display professional and leadership qualities
Other requirements:
- Valid North Carolina Driver’s License and satisfactory driving record
- Personal vehicle for use in conducting home visits and/or transporting clients in the event agency vehicles are not available
- Proof of current/valid car insurance
Work environment:
- Occasional evening and weekend hours required
- Culture of card and wellness with work environment
- Occasional exposure to outside weather conditions
- Potential exposure to blood borne and/or airborne pathogens

Pay: $40,000.00 - $42,000.00 per year
