Strengthening Families In-Home Parent Educator
Summary:
The Parent Educator will facilitate the Strengthening Families Program to be conducted in-home with at risk youth and their families. Essential duties include but not limited to, recruitment and retention of families, coordination of program sessions, evaluation of program effectiveness, documentation, and attending community meeting and services.
Specific position duties and responsibilities:
- Plan and facilitate weekly in-home parent/youth education visits utilizing the Strengthening Families evidence based program
- Administer weekly follow-up and reminder calls with the families/parents
- Submit weekly documentation of lesson planning and phone calls to the Program Supervisor
- Provide on-site support for the development of Strengthening Families program plan progress
- Maintains databases for client tracking for program
- Maintain budget and complete financial documentation based on grant requirements
- Follow and implement guidelines of grant through Wilkes Juvenile Crime Prevention Council and DPS JCPC Policy
- Promote program through marketing and contact with community agencies and participant
- Prepare and submit monthly reports to Program Supervisor in a timely manner
- Other duties as assigned by Program Supervisor
General Agency Duties and Responsibilities:
- Complete all required training
- Participates in agency outreach and fundraising events

Minimum Qualifications :
- Two-year degree minimum; prefer Four-year degree in Human Services or Education (Juvenile Justice, social services, child welfare, health services or related area)
- Two to three years’ experience working with at-risk children

- Experience working in dynamic team environment and ability to be flexible in duties

- Budgeting and management
Other requirements:
- Valid North Carolina driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
- Personal vehicle for use in conducting home visits and/or transporting clients in the event agency vehicles are not available
- Proof of current and valid car insurance
- Acceptable background reports
- Negative drug screen results
Work environment:
- Occasional evening and weekend hours required
- Culture of card and wellness with work environment
- Occasional exposure to outside weather conditions
- Potential exposure to blood borne and/or airborne pathogens
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 – 15 per week
