Supervised Visitation Monitor
Summary:
To provide a safe and nurturing environment for DSS involved children to have meaningful non-custodian visits.
Part-time (Surry County)
Nontraditional work schedule, hours may vary according to schedule
Specific position duties and responsibilities:
- Provides a safe and positive environment for visits and exchanges between parents and children.
- Monitors parent and child visits while documenting interaction in detail.
- Models nurturing parent and child interaction and delivers services in accordance to legal documents and/or other recommendations from the referral source.
- Remains neutral and maintains independence from parties
- Exercises judgement to intervene as an advocate for the child in emerging and crisis situations
- Maintains accurate written record of contacts and assists with the tracking and compilation of data and reports in a timely manner.
- Promote a positive image of the Children's Center of Northwest North Carolina and demonstrate an ability to work and execute responsibilities as part of a community and agency team
- Provides safe transportation to and from visits
General Agency Duties and Responsibilities
- Completes all required training
- Participates in agency outreach and fundraising events
- Demonstrates a willingness to assist in other agency programs as needed
- Acts as custodian and demonstrates responsible and ethical use of agency property and facilities
- Displays sensitivity to the service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics
- Strives to embody the agency's Code of Ethics while working toward the agency's mission
- Learns and demonstrates Agency Wide Competencies including the areas of consumer and community relationships, continuous individual and agency-wide improvement, vision and purpose, respect and teamwork and positive leadership
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor
Minimum Qualifications:
- Prefer 2-year degree in Early Childhood
- Minimum high school and 4 years experience working with children
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- An understanding of child maltreatment and a desire to protect children and support families.
- An ability to communicate ideas clearly, listen accurately, and establish rapport with diverse populations.
Other Requirements:
- Valid North Carolina driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
- Personal vehicle for use in conducting home visits and/or transporting clients in the event agency vehicles are not available
- Proof of current and valid car insurance
- Acceptable background reports
- Negative drug screen results
Work Environment:
- Ability to work flexible hours

- Occasional exposure to outside weather conditions
- Potential exposure to blood borne and/or airborne pathogens
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 5 – 10 per week
