Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced, talented, and energetic Middle School 7th Grade Humanities Teacher for four to eight weeks during the 2024-2025 school year. This position reports to the middle school director and works with all students in grades 5 through 8. The ideal candidate will bring middle school expertise, cultural competence, a commitment to equity and inclusion work, and alignment with the CDS Learning Beliefs. The successful candidate will prepare and inspire all students to be lifelong readers and writers while developing a critical eye for human history. Children’s Day School uses a variety of teaching resources including online resources, class novels, history textbooks, and primary sources.
Dates / Schedule :
- During the school year, the daily schedule is 8 : 00 am - 4 : 30 pm
- Monday – Friday (hours may vary slightly for meetings or events).
- Some events may occur on weekends.
- This role is expected to begin in March 2025.

Essential Practices of a CDS Educator
CDS Educators have identified and aligned on these five essential teaching practices to guide instruction and learning in the classroom. Applicants should excel in using these practices and be able to apply them to curriculum and unit design across all content areas they are responsible for.
Humanities Program Responsibilities
An unwavering commitment to middle school students and the community
Deep understanding of the writing process as well as form and structure in writing, especially essays, poetry, and short story
Being an advisor of 10-12 students
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; academic program focus on literature, history, and / or education-related fields
Attend middle school meetings
Division Wide Collaboration
Whole School - CDS Team
Position Requirements
Compensation
Projected daily rate is $315 - $639 per day. The daily rate is based on qualifications and experience.
