About the role!

The Senior Accountant is responsible for all journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, closing, reporting, and analysis of all accounts. The Senior Accountant is also responsible for assets, liabilities, revenues, expenses, sources, uses, and statements of financial position, activities and changes in net assets. The Senior Accountant is also responsible for both accounts payable and accounts receivable functions. This position currently reports to the Director of Finance.

This is a Hybrid position that will require an occasional on-site presence at our South Bay location (San Jose).

As a Senior Accountant, you will :

  • Oversee of accounting operations including : month end close, purchasing, accounts payable, tuition receivable and general ledger.
  • Assist in processing and posting incoming customer payments in EHR system; issue receipts and statements.
  • Assist in preparing manual and system-generated monthly statements for direct client care services and insurance claims.
  • Assist in the Self-Pay month and year-end close process, ensure completeness and accuracy before posting Self-Pay cycle in EHR system.
  • Assist in all journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, closing, reporting, and analysis of all accounts, assets, liabilities, revenues, expenses, sources, uses, and statements of financial position, activities and changes in net assets.
  • Assist with all accounts payable / accounts receivable functions.
  • Assist with fixed assets management.
  • Responsible for ensuring a timely and accurate completion of the monthly closing process, including account analysis and reconciliation, variance analysis and Key Performance Indicator (KPI) report generation / distribution.
  • Coordinate with the Advancement Office to ensure that all gifts and pledges are accurately accounted for (unrestricted, restricted, endowment, etc.).
  • This role requires the ability to handle confidential client information in accordance with HIPPA guidelines.
  • Provide general support to the Finance Director and the current Senior Accountant on various ad-hoc projects.

  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Abila (Sage), and CRM platforms such as Welligent.

  • Ability to multi-task and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong customer service and results orientation; highly responsive to requests.
  • Excellent time-management skills.

  • Ability to maintain the highest level of discretion and confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail with strong problem solving / analytical skills and ability to work under pressure and meeting deadlines.
  • Seeks clarification when a task needs additional information or is unclear.
  • About your background (education / experience) :

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related business field or combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • 4 years of relevant accounting experience required.
  • Some experience with medical billing required.
  • Knowledge of non-profit reporting and tax filings experience preferred.
  • Working Conditions :

    Physical Requirements : An employee in this position may be required to occasionally lift, move and / or set-up supplies for events, or stacks of documents such as marketing collateral, flip charts and other materials. Employee will also be required to work for extended periods of time at a computer.

    Special Job Requirements : Occasionally required to work on evenings / weekends at special events. Must be able to drive to offsite meetings and events. This is a Hybrid position that will require an occasional on-site presence at our South Bay location (San Jose).

    Contact with Others : Extensive interpersonal interaction with peers and outside contacts.

    Compensation :

    Range : $95,000-$110,000 per year

  • The starting base salary for this position is as shown above. The actual base salary is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs, and market demand. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
