POSITION PURPOSE AND SUMMARY
The Recreation Therapy Department strives to provide each child with recreational and therapeutic programs that promote Whole Person Wellness to allow for self-expression, enhance quality of life and celebrate individual needs and interests.
Under the supervision of the Recreation Therapy Director, the Activities Coordinator spend one-on-one time with identified patients to support the development, play skills and social expression of the children. Accordingly, this is accomplished through the provision of one-on-one experience to assist the patient in developing developmentally appropriate skills and abilities.
Job Requirements:
- Leads and conducts diversified recreation activities such as arts and crafts, organized games, and pet therapy.
- Provides on-to-one interventions with child.
- Complete required documentations.
- Provides feedback or input of childs responses to activity, observations about his/her physical and emotional behavior to Recreation Therapy Director.
- Assists in organizing, promoting and directing special event activities such as Halloween Party, Easter Egg Hunt or Christmas Party.
- Ensures proper safety precautions are observed in assigned activities.
- Prepares the activity room, supplies and equipment as well as cleans up after each activity.
- Cares for and maintains equipment.
- Establish and sustain working relationships with staff members and a variety of internal and external working groups and individuals.
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.
Education:
- A high school graduate with at least 2 references. Course work in recreation, education, or related field is desirable.
Experience:
- Previous experience working with children in a recreation program, health care, day care, school setting or related field.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to assess and meaningfully interact with infants, children, youth and families.
- Computer literate (Microsoft office).
- Demonstrates effective leadership and able to take initiative.
- Problem-solving, listening and communications skills.
- Able to work independently after given direction.
- Ability to lift 25 pounds comfortably.
- Ability to incorporate recommendations from IDT into play activities for the child.
- Ability to identify areas of need and provide individual activities for child.
Salary : $19 - $22
