The Food Services and Nutrition Feeding Coordinator will be responsible for managing food and nutrition needs across the ITU Feeding Program. This person will be responsible for the overall success of the program's compliance with food safety rules and provision of specific foods and liquids required for patients. The purpose of this position is to provide enhanced direct program support requiring considerable experience, skill, and knowledge of organization policies and practices.
Responsibilities
- Manage food procurement for the program through a variety of vendors. This includes maintaining appropriate inventory to determine ordering needs and coordinating with other disciplines to determine patient specific needs.
- Work with other departments at Children's to ensure excellent program implementation and operation. Communicate with department stakeholders of hospital to ensure proper considerations are made regarding program development and implementation. Example would include working with IS department or Food Services department.
- This role will be responsible for the daily management of food safety and procurement for the ITU feeding program.
- Perform various tasks to support the dietitians and the rest of the clinical nutrition departments. Tasks may include, but are not limited to, nutritional monitoring, obtaining pertinent nutritional information, documentation, calorie counts, missed meals, basic nutrition education, anthropometric measurements, patient scheduling, etc. Provide clear, effective and professional communication to patients and family, staff and community.
- Provide reports on objectives achieved, services rendered, impact to customers and status updates.
- Assists in daily program operations; interacts with patients, families and staff including verbal and written communication; coordinates ITU food service program meetings including scheduling, preparing agenda, producing documents, and taking and transcribing meeting minutes.
- At least 3 years relevant experience required
- At least 1 year Program or vendor coordination experience preferred
- Experience with food safety, nutrition, and/or feeding therapy preferred
- Two-year Associate's degree or equivalent experience preferred
- Four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred
- Registered Diet Technician preferred
- Is skilled in a range of processes, procedures and systems to carry out assigned tasks or has developed deep skills in a single area
- Understands the roles of all immediate team members and has a good understanding of how own team integrates with others
- Regularly provides guidance and support to more junior team members on challenging problems; helps them balance their workload and apply their skills
- Provides solutions to problems in situations that are atypical or occur infrequently based on practice and existing precedents
- Impacts the quality, timeliness and effectiveness of the team
- Uses discretion to modify work practices and processes (but not policies or procedures) to achieve results or improve efficiency
- Clearly and accurately conveys complex information
