Responsibilities
- Responsible for providing music therapy interventions to address the following needs of the patient and /or patient family: Diagnosis of terminal illness, Psychosocial issues, Grief and Bereavement issues, Group Activity, Developmental concerns, Acute crisis, Withdrawal and/or depression and Psychiatric disorders.
- Create and manage patient treatment plans, maintain patient documentation, develop and maintain effective working relationships with members of the health care team.
- Educate staff across numerous disciplines regarding psychosocial and emotional concerns and the benefits of music therapy.
How You’ll Be Successful:
- At least 2 years job related experience preferred
- Medical background or direct experience preferred
- Medical experience within pediatric acute care hospital environment preferred
- Bachelors degree within relevant field required
- Bachelors degree with Music Education, Psychology, or Therapy preferred
- Graduate or professional work or advanced degree; or equivalent experience preferred
- Music Therapist Board Certification required
- Requires experience in own professional discipline to appropriately apply own knowledge; broadens own professional expertise and acquires higher level skills
- Understands key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work
- No supervisory responsibilities but may provide informal guidance to new team members
- Solves problems in straightforward situations; analyzes possible solutions using professional/technical experience, judgment and precedents
- Impacts quality of own work and the work of others on the team; works within guidelines and policies
- Receives a moderate level of guidance and direction
- Explains complex information to others in straightforward situations
