About the Aflac Cancer & Blood Disorders Center
The Aflac Cancer & Blood Disorders Center of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and the Emory University Department of Pediatrics invites interested applicants for the position of Aflac Hematology Clinician. The Aflac Cancer & Blood Disorders Center has 125 faculty members and approximately 50 Advance Practice Providers (APPs) conducting basic, translational, and clinical research related to pediatric oncology and hematology disorders. More than 9,000 children with cancer and blood disorders are treated annually at the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center.
About the Hematology and Oncology Sections :
The Aflac pediatric hematology and oncology program is one of the largest in the country, home to the largest pediatric Sickle Cell program in the country with over 2,000 active patients. We conduct basic, translational, and clinical research related to Sickle cell disease and hemoglobinopathies, and have nearly 500 new cancer diagnoses each year across a variety of conditions including leukemia / lymphoma, solid tumors, and brain tumors.
The Hematology Section includes 32 faculty members, 10 of whom are primarily clinically focused, alongside 15 advance practice providers. The Oncology Section comprises 33 faculty members, 13 primarily clinically focused, and 16 advance practice providers.
About the Available Position :
Clinical Hematologist / Oncologist :
In this role, the provider will devote 90-100% to clinical responsibilities, including both inpatient and outpatient duties. The location and ratio of inpatient to outpatient work may be adjusted based on service needs.
The candidate will collaborate with program leaders to expand clinical programs and patient services in general hematology and oncology.
Opportunities for research, education, and leadership roles within the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center may be available based on experience and interests.
Provide clinical coverage at all locations served by the Aflac Cancer & Blood Disorders Center, including Arthur M. Blank Hospital and Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital.
Participate in the education and training of the pediatric Hem / Onc / BMT Division, engaging with medical students, residents, fellows, and occasionally practicing physicians.
Successful candidates will have :
- MD, MD / PhD, or DO degrees
- Board Certified / Board Eligible in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology
- Current physician licensure and eligibility for licensure in Georgia
- A history of clinical excellence and achievement
Salary and rank (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor) at Emory University School of Medicine will be commensurate with experience and accomplishments, with a primary focus on clinical service.
