About us

Children’s Heart Center Nevada has been providing the very best medical care to children with heart disease since 1980. We are one of the largest pediatric cardiology programs in the country – we have more than 50,000 patient contacts each year. We have four offices and multiple outreach clinics in Nevada and we provide consultation and inpatient visits for children at most Nevada hospitals. We see all children in need of our services. And on the same day, if necessary.

Our job is to thoroughly evaluate your child’s heart to determine if a problem exists or not. We understand that being referred to us is very distressing. Our staff and doctors are here to help make sure that all your questions are answered

Job Summary

*Applicant must be bilingual (Spanish/English)*

Serves patients by greeting and helping them; scheduling appointments; maintaining records and accounts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs day-to-day administrative functions and general office duties including but not limited to work processing, copying, filing, faxing, answering phone and data entry.
  • Primarily provides phone support and transfers calls as needed in order to maintain adequate phone coverage and properly routing incoming phone calls according to protocol; providing such services as scheduling appointments, taking messages, paging providers, etc.
  • Update and collect demographic information for new and established patients by verifying address, phone numbers, current insurance information and primary care physician;
  • Welcomes patients and visitors by greeting them in a warm and friendly manner that is helpful and accommodating; optimizes patients' satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization by scheduling appointments in person or by phone
  • Keeps patient appointments on schedule by notifying provider of patient's arrival or delays.
  • Maintains patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information.
  • Adhere to all office policies on safety and security.
  • Exercise utmost diplomacy and tact to provide exceptional customer service for patients; practice confidentiality and privacy protocols in accordance to CHC policies and HIPPA requirements.
  • Maintain patient waiting areas and front desk areas in a manner that is organized and neat.
  • Collect all copays due at the time of services; notify patients of any outstanding balances and collect.
  • Confirm on call physician in the evening with answering service.
  • Confirm that electronic appointment reminders have been sent to each patient daily through Greenway Lynk, if no reminder was sent contact those individuals and notify or leave a detailed message for patient/family confirming appointment date, time, and location.
  • Exercise problem-solving and conflict resolution skills when handling patient complaints; refers patient complaints to appropriate designated personnel as needed.
  • Performs all duties in support of successful EHR implementation.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing tasks in an efficient manner
  • Performs other duties as required.

Qualification Requirements/Experience

  • Understand and able to maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPPA requirements.
  • Ability to exercise a high degree of diplomacy and tact; excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills; work well under pressure with minimal supervision. Flexibility and willingness to handle a variety of tasks.
  • Intermediate to advanced phone skills on a multi-line phone system.
  • Must be flexible in order to accommodate the changing needs of the department
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills in English. Additional language skills desirable.
  • Basic to intermediate computers skills must include knowledge of MS Office software applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Education

Graduation from high school or equivalent plus six months of clinical office experience in comparable health care setting. AA degree in a comparable field preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
