JOB SUMMARY: At The Children’s Home Network, we take a holistic approach to mentoring. We believe that intervention and prevention are imperative to mitigating the negative impact that trauma has on early childhood development. Through mentorship, we strengthen the support system and create a safe nurturing environment that promotes healing and empowers youth/child to cultivate and develop resilience. Safe, stable and nurturing relationships are one of the most important factors in building resilience, and they are essential to ensure that the kids in our program are able to thrive and reach their full potential. This Mentor Services Program Manager delivers Guiding Stars utilizing a broad range of interventions, community services and natural support systems.  This dynamic position will work collaboratively with families and the community to ensure children 5 years of age through middle school with varying abilities and their families receive mentoring services tailored to meet their needs, and promote an increase in social emotional skills, improved relationships and social supports. This position involves a broad range of skills that include training and staff development activities, assessment services, consultation, and requires quality documentation of services provided.  Responsible for presentations and outreach to the community to promote the program. Participates in program initiatives, innovations and the organization’s performance and quality improvement efforts.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

 

  1. Provides oversight of the implementation of the Guiding Stars and quality improvement efforts.  Provides oversight of the Mentors, Mentor Specialist(s) and Intake Coordinator.
  2. Responsible of budgeting and fiscal management of the program. 
  3. Collaborates and coordinates activities with the Executive Vice President to monitor contractual agreements and coordinate staff training needs.
  4. Recruits, selects and trains professional mentors.
  5. Coordinates, contracts and collaborates community partners and consultants.
  6. Selects, supervises and trains department program and support staff.  Responsible for completing employee evaluations on those directly supervised and for ensuring that an effective employee development, discipline and recognition programs are implemented within framework of The Children’s Home’s Human Resources policies and procedures.
  7. Collects and reports on data as needed on a monthly and quarterly basis and submits data to funding sources as required.  
  8. Develops and monitors cooperative agreements with community agencies.  Coordinates existing and added services and serves as a representative for various community committees.
  9. Monitors outcome measures of program contracts and grants.  Ensures outcomes are achieved 
  10. Coordinates independent contractors and monitors quality and compliance with contract provisions.
  11. Provides leadership and participates in the organization’s performance and quality improvement efforts.
  12. Ensure staff fully utilizes agency EHR system and is responsible for integrity of data.
  13. Works within the philosophy and function of the Children’s Home Network.
  14. Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work or Human Services related field from an accredited university plus five (5) years of experience working with children and families, and three (3) years of experience should be in a supervisory or leadership role.

 

Licenses & Certifications:

 

  • Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license with no record of criminal driving offense or license suspension.        
  • Must possess means of providing job related transportation and show proof of required insurance.  Must be insurable under CHN’s current auto insurance policy.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.  
  • Must successfully complete and maintain FDLE clearance, Federal background and state criminal background check and sexual predator screening.

 

COMPETENCIES & PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:

 

Annual Training RequirementsThe following training topics are required annually: Sexual

Harassment, Blood-borne Pathogens, Workplace Accident Prevention and Reporting,

Confidentiality and Privacy Practices, Diversity/Cultural Competency, Child Abuse and Neglect

Mandated Reporter Statutes and Methods, Prevention of Violence in the Workplace, OSHA–

related training, Crisis Prevention, and Program Goals.

 

 

 

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. 
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with families, coworkers, supervisors, and other individuals.
  • Possess effective interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of agency’s organizational structure, standard operating procedures, and policies.
  • Knowledge of child abuse or neglect reporting procedures and methods.
  • Knowledge of child development inclusive of developmentally appropriate strategies.
  • Knowledge of intervention and behavior management methods, strategies, and techniques.
  • Knowledge of quality documentation as required by agency standards, rules, and regulations.
  • Ability to conduct assessments to develop family plans, and to provide follow-up services.
  • Ability to work as a multi-disciplinary team member in a positive productive manner.

 

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL SKILLS:

 

  • Visual: ability to safely operate a motor vehicle, read printed materials, and make observations of physical facilities.
  • Hearing: ability to understand and comprehend spoken dialogue in individual and group settings.
  • Ability to speak clearly and effectively.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

 

  • Works within an office environment, home office, family’s home, or within the community.
  • High level of emotional discussions, requiring self-awareness and understanding of professional boundaries.
