What are the responsibilities and job description for the Child Welfare Specialist position at Children's Home of Jefferson County?
The Children's Home of Jefferson County seeks a highly skilled Child Welfare Specialist to join our team. As a Child Welfare Specialist, you will be responsible for working with children and families in need of support and guidance. Your primary role will be to provide case management services, including conducting initial family assessments, maintaining contact with service providers, and coordinating visitation.
You will work closely with the child and family to develop an individualized treatment plan, providing supportive counseling and guidance as needed. Additionally, you will participate in regularly scheduled team meetings, work with community agencies and organizations to provide long-term planning and support, and attend all family court hearings.
Your expertise in child welfare will be essential in ensuring the health and safety of each youth while in the birth home, foster home, and community. You will create and modify safety plans as needed and maintain complete and organized case files in accordance with OCFS and CHJC policies.

Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in social work or related human service discipline preferred
- Two years' experience working with youth at risk and families
- Experience in child welfare, casework services, and strength-based care approach
