Summary / Objective :
As a CHJC employee, the TFCO Family Therapist is committed to creating opportunities to enhance lives one relationship at a time. Essential Functions :
- Provides weekly family therapy to TFCO program youth's family using the TFCO Treatment Model. This includes introducing new behavioral, coping and parenting skills and practicing these in sessions using strategic positive reinforcement and coaching interventions.
- Attends weekly TFCO Clinical Team Meetings
- In accordance with the assessment of need, meet and provide supportive counseling to the child and family, as needed
- Provides record keeping and documentation for all TFCO clinical activities (case documentation)
- Assists in the development of behavioral treatment for approximately 10 youth
- To work collaboratively with certification, TFCO Foster Parent, Probation Officers, Youth Aftercare Resource, and stakeholders
- Adheres to all TFCO fidelity standards
- Participates in weekly supervision with the TFCO Team Lead
- Participates in 24 hour on-call availability for TFCO Foster Parents. The Family Therapist may serve as back-up to the Team Leader for 24 / 7 on-call availability. Provide 24-hour on-call telephone support for participating TFCO Foster Parents and program youth. Including but not limited to the management of behavioral crises. May occasionally require in-person response outside of regular business hours to prepare for discharge, collaborate and participate in TFCO discharge planning meetings.
- Work with other agency team members in on-going agency-level quality improvement activities.
- Assists in the creative recruiting techniques of Foster Parents to keep the program at the highest level of quality and competitive at all times
- Attends and participates in meetings with the Department of Social Services and other outside agencies
- Participates in and attends Agency fundraising and training events (These events may not be during normal business hours)
- Works in partnership with the Team Lead and Quality assurance team to ensure all requirements are being met
- Notifies the TFCO Program Manager of any urgent or important issues with respect to Foster Parents and youth in the TFCO Program
- Solves crisis situations in an efficient and effective manner
- Aid in facilitation of on-going trainings. Training expectations may include times outside of normal business hours
- Handles other duties as assigned
Special Requirements :
Work Environment : Office environment will require occasional travel to recruitment events, local schools, conferences and / or meetings and moderate travel within the community to include off-site / in-home visits. May have contact with service recipients that are agitated and / or are in crisis. Some risk involved working with service recipients with mental illness. Works in an office setting with a controlled temperature environment. Occasional exposure to inclement weather conditions may occur depending upon assignments.
Equipment : This position is required to maintain a working knowledge of related office equipment including personal computers and printers, audio-visual equipment, telephone systems, copiers, fax machines, etc.
Physical Demands : Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, carry, push / pull, climb, bend, and stoop. Must be able to perform fine motor skills, read, and type. Must be able to sit for long periods of time. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Position Type / Expected Hours of Work :
Full-time, traditional hours required along with non-traditional hours including on-call. This position is required to work on-site, and offsite / in home visits.
Travel :
Travel is required throughout service area (Jefferson, Lewis, Oswego, and St. Lawerence County).
Required Education and Experience :
Additional Eligibility Qualifications : Completion / compliance and / or recertification is the responsibility of the TFCO Family Therapist :
TFCO Training, Foster Parent Certification Training, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, First Aid / CPR, Columbia Suicide Assessment, Safetyville and EMR training.

Strong organizational abilities and office skills are essential for this position. This person must also have excellent people skills and be a team player. Ability to work with diverse populations. Requires self-direction, tact, diplomacy, and the ability to be clear, courteous, and professional. Able to react to change productively and handle other duties as assigned.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications :
Must maintain privacy of confidential information. Successful completion of routine pre-employment requirements as mandated by the New York State Department of Health, Office of Mental Health and Office of Children and Family Services along with ongoing clearances and exclusion checks. These requirements are to include employment health requirements, reference checks, criminal background checks / fingerprinting, State Central Registry clearance and your eligibility to work in the United States. A valid NYS driver's license required. Corporate Compliance, HIPAA Privacy Security, and Workplace Harassment and Discrimination Training and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, First Aid and CPR will be required following date of hire.
