Summary

Child First is a nationally recognized, evidence-based, early childhood intervention home visiting program dedicated to promoting the health and well-being of vulnerable young children and families. Our comprehensive approach integrates intensive in-home based therapeutic services. CF is comprised of a professional team (Clinician and Family Resource Partner) that works together to address the needs of the families we serve to address the complex needs of children aged zero to five and their families.

As a Child First Clinician in Forsyth, Mecklenburg, or Durham County, you will play a vital role in providing therapeutic services to young children and families facing significant challenges, including trauma, adversity, and developmental delays. Through our in-home based model, you will have the opportunity to make a profound impact on the lives of children and families by fostering healthy relationships, supporting positive parent-child interactions, and promoting social-emotional development.

Primary Job Functions

  • Duties
  • Complete extensive on-the-job training in evidence-based practice to prepare the clinician to work in the community with families
  • Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments of children's developmental, emotional, and social needs, utilizing evidence-based screening tools and assessments.
  • Collaborate with families to develop individualized Family Support Plans (FSPs) that address the strengths, needs, and goals of each family.
  • Provide intensive, in-home based therapeutic services to children and families, including child-parent psychotherapy, trauma-focused interventions, and attachment-based therapies; collaboratively with a Family Resource Partner
  • Support parents in enhancing their parenting skills, building secure attachments with their children, and accessing community resources and services.
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of professionals, including Child First Family Resource Partners, Early Childhood Specialists, and mental health consultants, to provide coordinated and integrated care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client interactions, progress notes, and treatment plans in accordance with program guidelines and regulations.
  • Contribute to a positive, engaging work environment.
    • Display sensitivity to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics
    • Demonstrate the CHS Mission, Vision, and Values in the performance of all job duties.
    • Participate actively in departmental meetings, training, and education, as well as the quality process.
    • Comply with CHS’s code of conduct, policies, procedures, and other obligations.
    • Perform other duties related to department goals and projects as needed.
Qualifications

Job Qualifications

Education, Licenses & Certifications:

  • Master's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or related field required; LCSW(A), LCHMC(A), LMFT(A), or equivalent North Carolina licensure required.

Experience:

  • Experience working with young children and families, preferably in home-based or community settings.

Skills and Proficiency in:

  • Knowledge of early childhood development, trauma-informed care, and evidence-based interventions.
  • Strong clinical skills, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport and build trusting relationships with diverse populations.
  • Commitment to cultural humility, diversity, equity, and inclusion in service delivery.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and working with databases
  • Proven excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent people skills

Ability to:

    • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
    • Must be physically able to use standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines
    • Availability for occasional evening and weekend hours
    • Maintain a valid North Carolina driver’s license, adequate auto insurance, and have access to an operating vehicle to attend to CHS business
    • Be able to conduct in-person home visits
Schedule Expectations

This position is a salary exempt job that will require some weekends, and evenings work. Along with working our standard scheduled week. The ability to work flexible hours is required to meet business needs. If working remotely, will be required to be available by telephone and email during specified hours as required. Frequent travel required to conduct business-related activities.
