What are the responsibilities and job description for the Family Aide position at Children's Home Society of WV, Inc.?
Children's Home Society of WV is seeking a full-time Family Aide at our Summersville site.
Position Goal: To provide aide level services, such as supervised visitation and transportation, to children and families served in our foster care program.
What you will be doing:
- Supervise visitations between the child and his/her biological family, as needed.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with the child's biological family through honest interactions and active listening. Provide encouragement and support through positive role modeling.
- Help biological parents become involved in activities with their children while modeling positive and appropriate parent/child interactions.
- Educate biological parents about the stages and processes of child development. Teach appropriate and consistent child management techniques.
- Provide meaningful observations, both oral and written, of children and their families and provide appropriate, accurate, and timely recommendations.
- Complete thorough and accurate documentation. Meet required deadlines.
- Provide transportation to family visits, appointments, etc., as needed.
- Assist with miscellaneous office duties, such as filing, inventorying office supplies, picking up and distributing mail, preparing foster parent reimbursement payments, and other related tasks.
- Attend staff meetings, supervisory conferences, and trainings as requested and offered.
- Commit to permanency for every child.

What you will need:
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED.
- Demonstrated ability to work with children, youth and families.
- Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance coverage.
- Criminal Background Check and Child Abuse Registry Check.
- Flexibility to work irregular hours, including some evenings and weekends.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
