What are the responsibilities and job description for the Per Diem-Ped Sleep Tech position at Children's Hospital Boston?
The per diem Sleep Technologist is responsible for the following :
- Prepares patients and equipment for procedures.
- Obtains medical history from patients / families to identify and meet patient-specific needs. (e.g., physical / mental limitations, current physiological status regarding the testing procedure).
- Reviews procedure request provided by ordering physician and complies with all standard lab protocols.
- Performs polysomnograms according to hospital and laboratory standards and protocols; routine and specialized PSG, PAP, O2, Trach, and other specialized procedures to meet the procedure request / goals of the study.
- Perform routine and complex equipment care and maintenance, troubleshoots technical problems with equipment, and coordinate repairs as needed with appropriate personnel.
- Keeps equipment clean and in proper working order.
- Attend monthly technical staff meetings providing professional input for the development of procedures and protocols for the Center.
- Participate in professional meetings on a local, regional, and national basis.The per diem Sleep Technologist must have the following :
- High School diploma / GED
- RPSGT eligible
- Knowledge of PSG-related equipment, basic troubleshooting, and interfacing.
- Knowledge of the AASM manual of rules, terminology, and technical specifications.
- Ability to recognize abnormalities, artifacts, and events, and document with accuracy.
- Knowledge of patient safety procedures and protocols, infection control, and emergency procedures in a hospital setting.
- Skilled in the application of equipment, including 10-20 measurement system.
