The Dietitian Assistant provides operational support for the Clinical Nutrition department and clinical assistance with patient's nutritional care.
Department Name: Room Service
Job Status: PRN, as needed
Shift: Days/Evenings. 7:00am - 5:30pm and 9:00am - 7:30pm. Holidays and weekends required per department needs.
*This position qualifies for a 20% PRN differential in addition to the base pay
- EDUCATION - Associate's degree in Nutrition and Dietetics, Healthcare or related field.
- EQUIVALENCY - Certification as a registered dietetic technician or two years of related work experience may be accepted in lieu of education requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform
- Determines nutritional risk of patients in accordance with policies and procedures and maintains communication with Registered Dietitian (RD) staff.
- Partners with patients, families and nursing to calculate and document all intakes, oral and nutrition support for inpatient orders for calorie count.
- Responsible for triaging phone calls, nutrition risk screening, calorie counts, diet analysis, meal planning, nutrition support flow sheet calculations and ketogenic diet initiation.
- Supports and coordinates the ketogenic diet orientation with the ketogenic RD and team. Plans menus for patients in accordance with the ketogenic diet prescription.
- Provides training to families on how to prepare keto meals while in patient and for home use.
- Coordinates and collaborates closely with the room service coordinators in food service to ensure compliance with inpatients diet modifications.
- Assists patients and families in meal planning for patients on a complex therapeutic diet that cannot be managed through room service. Responsible for outpatient diet analysis of food records submitted by RD's and medical providers.
- Supports and collaborates with the eating disorder RD's to help families with patient menu planning. Coordinates with families in ordering meals in compliance with the correct meal plan level.
- Responsible for the accurate calculation and timely documentation of daily enteral and parenteral nutrient intake for patients in the critical care inpatient units.
- Responsible for the preparation and distribution of formulas prepared in formula lab.

Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $38,363.48 to $57,545.22Hourly Salary Range: $18.44 to $27.67
