Job Overview

The Graphic Designer position (mid-level) works in close collaboration with the creative team and the internal marketing agency at Children’s Hospital Colorado. Responsible for creating communications that powerfully reflect the passion, integrity and mission of our brand. This individual demonstrates agility in adapting to new design and interactive disciplines. Will work with creative team to design and produce a range of print and interactive projects including posters, advertisements, direct mail, corporate identity, landing page design, email blasts and web graphics. This position requires excellent command of graphic design principles and practices, formats, composition, typography and layout.

The Graphic Designer (mid-level) takes creative direction and reports to the Creative Director and will also take creative direction from the senior graphic designer or art director in partnership with the marketing strategists.

Job Status: Hybrid. Salaried, 40 hours per week, eligible for benefits

Shift: Day. Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm. Occasional evenings or weekends may be necessary depending on event schedule

Qualifications

  • EDUCATION – Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or related field.
  • EXPERIENCE – Three years of creative/graphic design experience in an agency, studio, or corporate environment. Pre-press/production experience also required. Pre-press/production experience preferred
  • EQUIVALENCY – Professional experience, beyond requirements, in a related field may substitute for a Bachelor degree requirement on a year for year basis.
  • Exceptional portfolio showcasing strong design and visual solutions and demonstrates good color, typography and layout skills
  • Expert in Adobe Creative Suite – InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop
  • Strong concept development and problem-solving skills
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented and dependable; able to multitask, work quickly and meet multiple deadlines
  • Excellent oral and written skills
  • Professional work ethic and a team player
  • Must demonstrate initiative and be proactive in seeking new opportunities and solutions
  • Expertise in the formal elements of visual design, including typography, color, layout, balance, proportion, rhythm, emphasis, and unity

Essential Functions

  • Design and produce a range of marketing materials such as brochures, posters, website graphics, social media posts, email campaigns, advertisements and apparel in alignment with brand standards
  • Design high-quality graphics and layouts based on assignment goals and requirements, and incorporate feedback from senior designers
  • Conceptualize, plan and design creative projects according to the creative brief, project specifications and marketing and communication goals
  • Promote continual creative improvement and actively contributes to a culture of innovation, excellence, accountability and teamwork
  • Demonstrate strong visual aesthetic and creative thinking abilities
  • Art direct photo and video shoots, pull inspiration, research and developing ideas. Clearly communicate with talelent and crew and ensure the goals of the assnment are met
  • Able to work independently as well as collaboratively with seasoned creative and marketing teams
  • Collaborate with other creative roles (designers, copywriters, photographers/videographers, developers) in developing communication concepts that reflect the unique mission and value of Children’s Colorado to our diverse audience segments
  • Seek to ensure subject matter understanding
  • Interact with internal clients; work closely with marketing, service lines and business development teams to create and implement design solutions, and obtain input and approval
  • Follow creative workflow through from concept to production
  • Manage own project workload while coordinating with project management teams on schedules, requirements, goals and assignments as needed
  • Help to ensure consistency and successful representation of the Children’s Colorado brand across all channels, through knowledge of brand standards, design templates and systems architecture
  • Ability to resolve complex design, communication and technical issues and challenges
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of brand goals and approach assignements strategically
  • Establishes and maintains a high quality of design and execution from concept to completion.

Salary Information

Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $61,473.39 to $92,210.08

Hourly Salary Range: $29.55 to $44.33
