The Manager Health Information Management (HIM) Operations is responsible for oversight of the release of information (ROI), chart completion and deficiency tracking, scanning and identity teams at all Children's Hospital Colorado locations. Ensures HIM operations support hospital policy, medical staff by-laws and regulatory and legal requirements, maintains departmental policies and procedures accordingly. Works in association with the HIM operations staff, clinicians, coders, and all members of the healthcare team to ensure accurate and timely completion, maintenance, and access of medical records.

- EDUCATION - Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Health Care Administration, Business Administration, Management, Finance, or a related field.
- EXPERIENCE - Five (5) years of HIM operations experience, including one (1) years of supervisory experience.
- EQUIVALENCY - Professional experience, beyond requirements, in a related field may substitute for a Bachelor's degree requirement on a year for year basis.
- CERTIFICATION(S) - One (1) of the following credentials from American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA):
- Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
- Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
*Actively partners, interdepartmentally, in the development and execution of strategic planning regarding business and clinical operations.
*Manages team members and day-to-day operations of ROI, chart completion and deficiency tracking, scanning and identity (i.e., program development, process improvement, etc.).
*Provides one-on-one and group training, researches HIM-related questions and issues, and supports HIM inquiries.
*Maintains up-to-date knowledge of HIPAA and patient right of access, and state, federal and regulatory requirements for medical record documentation.
*Provides project management leadership by creating charters (when applicable), timelines, milestones, and goals and objectives for projects and programs. Keeps projects on time and on task. Engages appropriate managers and coordinators in project management process and works to achieve active buy-in from stakeholders.
*Evaluates, designs, and implements workflows and procedures to ensure compliance requirements are met, turnaround times are maintained, and unbilled dollars are within expected targets.
Implements productivity standards to ensure optimal staffing levels and team members' understanding of expectations.
*Prepares, analyzes, monitors, and communicates relevant operational, financial, and statistical reports to appropriate stakeholders throughout department and organization.
*Identifies and assists in the resolution of documentation or medical record access issues which may arise between patients and families, support staff, providers, and other departments.
*Partners with Ambulatory Services, Service Lines, Patient Access/ Financial Counseling, Revenue Integrity, Patient Financial Services, Health Information Management, Managed Care, Finance, and others to support and improve business operations and organizational performance.
*Provides and organizes staff training; keeps all staff informed of all department-specific policies and procedures. Ensures staff adherence to Children's Hospital Colorado (CHCO) policies such as HIPAA and billing compliance protocols.
*Coaches staff in problem solving, effective communication strategies, and conflict resolution, mentoring and career path opportunities. Hires and evaluates staff; arranges staff coverage; prepares staff evaluations; implements disciplinary actions; conducts routine staff meetings; enhances communication and fosters a team environment.
*Maintains relationships with vendors utilized for HIM Operations and assures vendor responsibilities and obligations are met.

Guidelines: Guidelines are in the form of stated vision and objectives for the division or agency. 1st level manager performs a combination of management and supervisory duties and responsibilities. Work is tactical and operational in nature.
Complexity: Work assignment is unstructured and employee is responsible for implementing and managing a variety of objectives, resources, and strategies to achieve the goals of the division or agency. Duties performed include operational and organizational planning, developing standards, schedules, priorities, guidelines, processes, measurement (evaluation) systems, implementation of production and performance management standards, and allocating resources.

Employee is expected to resolve problems that arise in the normal course of the work. Salary Information
Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $82,095.81 to $123,143.72Hourly Salary Range: $39.47 to $59.20
