A Brief Overview
This role leads the planning, organizing and managing of the accounting functions for the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Practice Association (CHOPPA) practice plans.
Main responsibilities include team development, month end close and consolidation, analysis, annual audit, all regulatory filings and faculty payroll processing.
What you will do
- Monthly Close
* Oversees the execution of the monthly close and consolidation of the Physician Practice Plans.
* Ensures an efficient and standard close process that meets Institutional deadlines
* Supports Financial Reporting needs for the local teams
* Reports out Practice Plan results in Enterprise monthly close meeting
* Ensures CHOPPA team understands and is able to account for unique business needs - Account Analysis
* Oversees the General Ledger account reconciliations and analyses processes
* Supports Enterprise Budget to Actual analysis - Compliance and Regulatory
* Oversees all Practice Plan Compliance and Regulatory Matters
* Manages the annual and interim audit processes
* Manages the preparation of any external reporting to government entities including the Federal Form 990, Excise Tax and Sales & Use Tax Renewals
* Ensures adherence to GAAP
* Manages the relationship with internal and external auditors
* Manges the relationship with external tax professionals
* Develops and maintains Departmental Policies - Technical Expertise
* Practice Plan representative for all ERP related changes, implementations and optimization projects
* Ensures team has tools and resources for all Finance related activities
* Ensures team is appropriately trained on all tools - Customer Service
* Fosters a Customer Service oriented mindset
* Collaborates with Hospital and Research leaders to ensure alignment in Finance Strategy
* Collaboration with Local Practice Plan Leadership to ensure all financial needs are addressed - University of Pennsylvania Payroll
* Oversees the management of the PENN payroll for all CHOPPA Departments
* Ensures that all PENN Payroll related transactions are accurately reflected in the Enterprise ERP system
* Liaison with University of PA for all faculty related matters
* Provides outstanding customer service to faculty and administration for all faculty payroll related matters - Team Supervision
* Supervises Accounting Manager, Accounting Supervisor or other Lead Accountants
* Ensures that all HR related responsibilities including performance management, coaching, development and KRONOS approvals are completely timely
* Prepares and Manages Department budget
Education Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree Required
- Master's Degree Accounting Preferred
Experience Qualifications
- At least ten (10) years accounting experience Required and
- At least seven (7) years supervisory or managerial experience Required
- At least fifteen (15) years accounting experience Preferred and
- At least ten (10) years supervisory or managerial experience Preferred and
- Previous experience within a healthcare related environment Preferred
Skills and Abilities
- Advanced knowledge of financial management systems (Workday, Lawson)
- Advanced knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Advanced proficiency in spreadsheet software (Excel)
- Excellent analytical skills
- Strong leadership skills
- Ability to gather, analyze and make recommendations/decisions based on data
- Ability to convey complex or technical information in an easy to understand manner
- Ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels
Licenses and Certifications
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) - Pennsylvania State Licensing Board - - Preferred
