What are the responsibilities and job description for the Camp Counselor position at Children's House Montessori School?
Children’s House Montessori is seeking a Seasonal Lead Camp Counselor for the 2025 summer season at our historic yellow schoolhouse in Camden, Maine. The lead counselor will guide children ages 3-5 years old. This position begins June 16, or earlier with availability,and runs through August 15. Hours are Monday-Thursday, 8-4 and Friday, 8-12:30. The successful candidate will join a team-oriented Montessori camp that serves approximately 50 children ages 18 months to 10 years old in a community-based, nurturing, and inclusive environment.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, preferably in early childhood/elementary education
- Montessori Teacher Certification is a plus
- Minimum of 3-5 years of related early childhood/elementary teaching experience
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience in an outdoor school or camp setting
Qualifications:
- Genuine love of children and families
- Values an inclusive, holistic, and community approach to teaching and learning
- Excellent communication skills with children, parents, and colleagues
- Meets all state requirements (First Aid/CPR, background check, etc.)
Role Expectations:
- Responsible for the health, safety, direct care, supervision, and education of campers
- Develops and implements hands-on activities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Responsible for guiding assistant counselors and high school staff
- Shares joint responsibility for the set up and clean up of indoor and outdoor camp spaces, including common areas
- Responsible for direct communication with parents in a warm, professional manner
