The Electrophysiology APRN participates in the day-to-day care and management of patients with arrhythmias. The EP APRN will be expected to take active part in the inpatient consultative EP services. The EP APRN will also be expected to interrogate and interpret cardiac implantable electronic devices. The Electrophysiology APRN will also be active in coordinating care of perioperative patients to ensure seamless transition of their care.

  • Inpatient electrophysiology consultation services in collaboration with electrophysiology attending.
  • Perioperative oversight and coordination of care of patients undergoing electrophysiological procedures.
  • Assistance in the management of the acutely ill electrophysiologically compromised patient.
  • Actively participates in quality assurance projects and data to track patient outcomes.
  • Community outreach projects to promote growth and awareness of electrophysiology services provided.
  • Collaborates with electrophysiology attending in providing educational opportunities to nursing staff, medical trainees, and the community.

Advanced Practice Registered Nurses II (APRN-II) provides proficient, comprehensive, evidence-based advanced practice nursing to address the physiologic, psychosocial, and developmental needs of patients and families within the framework of the collaborative practice agreement. An APRN II obtains a comprehensive health history; performs physical examination; formulates a plan of care and treatment; prescribes / performs diagnostic and therapeutic interventions and procedures; and participates in patient and family education. Each APRN-II demonstrates professional leadership and participates in evidenced-based practice, quality improvement, and / or research activities, and organizational development.

Responsibilities

  • Clinical Practice : proficiently provides comprehensive, evidence-based advanced practice nursing care based on the physiologic, psychosocial, and developmental needs of patients and families within the framework of the collaborative practice agreement.
  • Professional Leadership : advances the practice of nursing by inspiring others to positively impact the care of children and families in our community.
  • Evidenced-based Practice / QI / Research Inquiry : improves patient / family outcomes by utilizing evidence to translate science to practice.
  • Organizational Development : influences organizational policy in order to achieve and sustain practice improvements and strategic initiatives.
  • Qualifications

  • Acute Care PNP will be required upon hire
  • Master's Degree and 1-2 years experience 1-2 years pediatric APRN experience with Masters. Exceptions considered on a case-by-case basis within preferred specialty. or
  • Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) - preferred and 1-2 years experience 1 year pediatric APRN experience. Exceptions considered on a case-by-case basis within preferred specialty.
  • Licensed RN - Kansas, Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas required upon hire
  • Licensed RN - MO, Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri required upon hire
  • RN Compact license for all states besides KS and MO
  • APRN MO Advanced Practice Registered Nurse MO APRN document of recognition in Missouri Required Upon Hire
  • APRN KS Advanced Practice Registered Nurse KS APRN license in Kansas Required Upon Hire
  • APRN board certification congruent with population and practice setting (see policy statement : Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Roles and Practice Setting) Required Upon Hire
  • Refer to Nursing and Advanced Practice Provider Licensure and Certification policy for required Life Support Certifications Required Upon Hire
  • Specialty Certification relevant to unit’s patient population (determined by Nurse Manager / Director) Preferred
