Position Summary:
This is a union position.
The Facilities Technician assists the Facilities Director with the overall maintenance of the museum campus and the overall cleanliness and operational efficiency of the museum.
Essential Job Duties:
- Repair, Maintain/monitor all equipment and amenities.
- Paint, Remodel, refurbish areas as needed.
- Assist in daily cleaning tasks as needed.
- Assist in the proper maintenance of the internal workings of the museum campus electrical, steam heating, chilled water and plumbing systems.
- Depending on assigned schedules, may be responsible for opening museum upon arrival, turning on lights and inspecting all areas of the buildings and property for safety, and compliance to the Museum's established policies and procedures.
- Performs minor electrical maintenance to include but not be limited to replacement or repair of fixtures (e.g. wall switches and outlets, incandescent and fluorescent bulbs and tubes, ballast, sockets, fuses, minor appliances, cords, etc.) using appropriate hand, power and specialty tools.
- Assist as needed with receiving of deliveries, use of forklift and power pallet jack.
- Performs minor plumbing maintenance (e.g. replacement or repair of leaks in drains and faucets, unclogging of drains, trenching and laying new lines, replacing drain hoses on washers and similar devices, etc.)
- Perform snow removal as needed.
- Prepares the surfaces and paints various structures and equipment.
- Ability to utilize HVAC control software, both Johnson controls and Delta controls
- Monitor and troubleshoot HVAC system and coordinate with service provider when necessary.
- Assist in emergency response to all alarms (fire, burg)

Qualifications:
Education: High School Education or equivalent.
Experience: Prior experience working in facilities maintenance preferred. Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing and carpentry preferred
Skills:

Physical Requirements & Equipment Usage:
- Performs physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials is required.
- Position requires moving regularly and consistently during the majority of the workday.
- Must be able to work outdoors in all weather being exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, use ladders
- Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.

Work Environment, Hours of Work, and Travel Requirements:
- Essential duties of this position will be performed in a museum environment, which includes interaction with the public and exposure to children and families.
- Hours of work are 5 days per week 8 hours per day, availability on weekends is essential. Occasional evening availability may be required.
Clearances:
- FBI fingerprint, PA Child Abuse History Certificate (Act 33) and PA State Criminal Record Check (Act 34) are required.
