In collaboration with the multidisciplinary health care delivery team, under the direction of the Registered Nurse, the Dialysis Technician will perform basic nursing care activities. Will maintain a safe, clean, stocked patient care setting, assist staff members and help direct patient flow.
Qualifications : Minimum Education
High School Diploma or GED (Required)
Minimum Work Experience
1 year experience in a pediatric health care setting (Preferred)
Required Skills / Knowledge
Knowledge of aseptic technique.
Basic calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).

Required Licenses and Certifications
Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider (BLS) (Required)
Patient Care Technician (CPCT) (Required)

Functional Accountabilities
Patient Care
- Orient family to use of call lights, monitor and unit, etc.; perform vital signs, height, weight and head circumference.
- Provide daily bath, skin care, mouth care and peri-care; apply skins creams as directed by RN.
- Ensure proper nutrition as ordered (ng, gt, or tray); care of tube feeding and feeding of patients.
- Recognize and report pain and skin breakdown.
- Assist in performance of trach care, EVD, central line dressing, pin care, cast and traction care and care for dying patients.
- Collect cultures of urine and stool samples, etc.
Patient Care Support
Assist with patient flow and maintain a neat and orderly environment.Assist with preparation of room for discharge and admission.Set up monitor and alarms.Obtain equipment and supplies and maintain PAR levels.Prioritize tasks and special requests from RN.Document on nursing database, flow sheets and vital signs in a timely manner and notify charge nurse appropriate in computer or chart as suitable.Surveillance and Infection control
Observe and alert RN when there are monitor deviations.When assigned to monitor bank, folow the monitor guidelines to dress code and professionalism.Care for isolation patients.Adhere to hand washing before and after every patient.Clean equipment after each patient's use.Staff Relations
