The Transfer Coordination Specialist (TCS) serves as the highly visible and critical role within the communications center, a 24 / 7 function that provides rapid and efficient transport and coordination of emergency patient referrals. Primary responsibilities include : 1) Ensuring high-level customer service to all clients, both internal and external, throughout the patient referral process. 2) Receiving, documenting, and communicating time-sensitive clinical data from a multitude of sources. 3) Coordinating complex ground and air transport logistics and internal response teams for medical emergencies. 4) Continuously monitoring regional and Federal emergency medical communications systems; receiving and transmitting emergency and urgent information via radio and telephone utilizing multiple computer systems to track, document, and facilitate these activities. The incumbent is comfortable working in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment with a passion and desire to continually provide high-quality service while performing multiple simultaneous functions. Successful individuals hold strong critical thinking skills, are proficient in synthesizing verbal information, and are able to interpret and apply detailed policies and procedures.

Qualifications : Minimum Education
High School Diploma or GED (Required) And Prior completion of an approved Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (EMT-B) program (required)
Minimum Work Experience
1 year At least 1 year of experience in one or more of the following areas : customer service, call center, hospital transfer center / patient flow, healthcare facility clerical / administrative staff, EMS, or public safety dispatch. (Clinical experience obtained during initial EMT-B training will be considered.) (Required)
1 year EMT-B field experience. (Preferred)
1 year Experience with health information technology (ex. EMR, patient registration) and / or computer-aided dispatch systems is a plus. (Preferred)
Required Skills / Knowledge
Proficient with Microsoft Windows based computer applications.
Proficient in medical terminology.
Required Licenses and Certifications
Active EMT or Paramedic certification is required. Upon Hire (Required)
Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) Employment is contingent on obtaining National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) certification within 6 months of hire and maintaining this certification continuously. 180 Days (Required)
