Description :
The Music Therapist will help develop, implement, and evaluate a music therapy program for patients receiving care from the Department / Division. Foster positive and professional interpersonal relationships with patients / families, physicians, hospital staff, community representatives, and visitors. Effectively use interpersonal communication skills to promote a healing environment.
Qualifications : Minimum Education :
Bachelor's Degree (Required)
Master's Degree (Preferred)
Minimum Work Experience :
2 years Post Bachelor's experience as a music therapist (Preferred)
1 year Post Master’s experience as a music therapist (Preferred)
Required Skills / Knowledge :
Excellent inter-personal and communication skills.
Ability to relate to diverse patient populations.
Sensitivity to individuals from varied backgrounds and cultures.
Competency with age-specific needs from childhood through young adulthood.
Functional Accountabilities :
- Development :
Work with patients, families, and staff to understand the needs of different patient populations in relation to a music therapy program.
Meet individual patients and parents / guardians to explain music therapy program, invite participation, and answer questions.
Actively work to integrate music therapy programs with other psychosocial services.
Work with Public Relations and Marketing and other hospital departments to promote the Program internally and externally as appropriate.
