What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinical Pharmacist (PRN | As Needed) position at Children's National Medical Center?
Performs medication order processing responsibilities within established policies, procedures and guidelines and provides drug information while applying a thorough understanding and knowledge of drug and medical therapy .
Minimum Education
Completion of a five year pharmacy program in an accredited college of pharmacy. (Required)
Minimum Work Experience
1 year Pharmacy experience (Required)
Functional Accountabilities
Medication Processing
- Interpret medication orders, profile orders and oversee the packaging, labeling and distribution of medications.
Drug Intervention and Education
- Perform drug therapy monitoring and intervene as necessary on drug dosing, drug administration, drug interactions, side-effects and monitoring issues; complete therapeutic drug monitoring consults and adverse drug reaction reports as assigned.
- Provide accurate and timely drug information to physicians, nurses and other health professionals.
- Interpret research medication orders, ensure accurate preparation of investigational drugs and maintain complete and accurate records.
- Must maintain proficiencies in medication handling (including hazardous medications), compounding sterile/non-sterile preparation(s) and completing quality assurance checks per standard operating procedures and policies in compliance with USP , and guidelines.
Supervision/Training
- Oversee the work of Pharmacy Technicians by directing and assisting as necessary to ensure rapid medication order turn-around time.
- Assist with the education, training and general supervision of Pharmacy Residents, Students and Technicians.
