Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Director of Inventory Management to provide oversight of all distribution and inventory control functions in Central Distribution and the areas that we manage.
- Develop and maintain critical relationships with key clinical leaders in regards to supply related initiatives and inventory management.
- Ensure effective operation of the department through system development, process improvement and coordination with customer departments.
- Assist in the development and implementation of Central Distribution’s customer service standards.
- Act as the lead recall management coordinator for consumable medical supplies. This includes researching each recall’s impact on our facility, communicating product removal instructions to our internal teams, and leading recall response efforts.
- Develop and implement standard inventory control procedures in Central Distribution and the supply areas that we manage.
- Collaborate with the Director of Inventory Management to monitor the Central Distribution budget each month to ensure that financial and performance goals are met.
- Coordinate with clinical leadership to identify opportunities for the CDS team to provide additional assistance with supplies.
- Active member of Value Analysis and Code Cart committees in order to provide product insight when needed.
- Manage new product stocking requests in Central Distribution and the supply areas that we manage.
- Coordinate with the Director of Inventory Management to develop, implement, and maintain process improvement projects.
- Ensure compliance with all Joint Commission, Environment of Care, and COA Infection Control standards.
- Assist the Director with the creation and evaluation of quality assurance standards, programs, and procedures within the department.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of all policies and procedures in Central Distribution.
- Oversee and provide support to the CDS Project Coordinator, Inventory Specialist, and CDS Manager as needed.
- Ensure that product conversions and supply-related unit updates are completed in a timely manner.
- Assist with the evaluation of new products along with Supply Chain Management, Value Analysis, and our clinical team.
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of all training and continued education initiatives in Central Distribution.
- Manages the Central Distribution item master and communicates product changes to the CDS Technicians and our clinical team. This includes updating sourcing information in both Infor and Pyxis to ensure that orders are routed correctly.
- Assist with monitoring product usage and inventory levels in Central Distribution to ensure that internal and distributor forecasts are updated accordingly.
- Communicates with our suppliers to discuss product concerns, including backorders, defective products, and general product inquiries.
- Assist the Director of Inventory Management with the creation and maintenance of the Central Distribution backorder report and monthly newsletter.
- Responsible for ensuring performance standards are created and monitored for all Central Distribution employees. This includes completing performance evaluations, assisting with performance meetings, and assisting with disciplinary actions when necessary.
- Perform other inventory and operational support duties as assigned.
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or healthcare administration preferred.
- 2-4 years of inventory experience required.
- Prior leadership experience required.
