As a Pediatric Hematology / Oncology Nurse Practitioner at CHKD, you will play a key role in the management, treatment, and follow-up of pediatric patients diagnosed with blood disorders and cancer. Responsibilities :
- Provide direct patient care to pediatric hematology and oncology patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Perform comprehensive assessments, including physical examinations, diagnostic testing, and treatment planning.
- Collaborate with attending physicians, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, manage medications, and provide patient and family education regarding diagnosis, treatment options, and ongoing care needs.
- Serve as an advocate for patients and families, offering emotional support and guidance throughout treatment processes.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, patient rounds, and case discussions.
- Monitor patients' progress, adjust care plans as necessary, and ensure continuity of care through all stages of treatment.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to nursing staff and other clinical professionals.
- Stay current with the latest advancements in pediatric hematology / oncology care through continuing education, research, and professional development.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
