Managing Director
The Position
Six Points Theater’s managing director is a new position; the person fulfilling this role will have the opportunity to shape this position for the ongoing health and vitality of the theater. The managing director will oversee business aspects of Six Points Theater. In collaboration with the producing artistic director and in partnership with the board of directors, the managing director will share the responsibility for establishing and achieving the strategic priorities of Six Points Theater to advance the mission of the organization. The managing director reports to the producing artistic director. This is a full-time, exempt position. From time to time, this position may require hours outside the normally defined workday or workweek.
Roles and Responsibilities
- OPERATIONS AND FINANCE
Work with the producing artistic director to formulate and oversee implementation of the annual operating budget.
Oversee and work with manager of communications and audience engagement on marketing plans, public relations, social media, and other communications.
Work with the producing artistic director, staff and board of directors in development and execution of fund-raising plans, events, grant work and individual fund raising.
Provide leadership for strategic planning and fulfillment of strategic plan.
As this is a new position, functions and duties may be reviewed and revised to strengthen the position and organization.

Starting Salary : $60,000, negotiable.
Other : PTO includes vacation, sick days, and legal and Jewish holidays; monthly payment for health care, annual SEP payment.
Six Points Theater
Founded as Minnesota Jewish Theatre Company in 1994, Six Points Theater is nationally-recognized as the preeminent independent professional theater in the United States that is rooted in Jewish content. Located in St. Paul, Minnesota, the theater is a point of destination, known for producing bold new plays that look at life through a Jewish lens with provocative stories that are universal and reveal our common threads of humanity.
In its 30-year history, the theater has completed every fiscal year without debt, and following the pandemic, has re-grown the audience, exceeding total attendance in each year. The theater draws a diverse audience from throughout the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area and beyond, and audiences are about equally Jewish and non-Jewish with the board of directors and staff representing the diversity of the audience.
Programming includes a season of four shows with additional optional offerings, events that complement the work onstage, and new play work. Six Points Theater is located in one of the most lively theater and arts communities in the United States with more than 30 professional theaters including the Guthrie Theater. Because of the strong theater community, SPT is able to draw from a strong pool of professional actors, directors and other theater artists. Unique in the country, Minnesota passed a sales tax in 2008 to support organizations and programs in the arts, humanities, and environment. The Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund has helped to strengthen the ability for all Minnesota arts organizations to fulfill their missions.
