Acts as a go-to resource for Patient Access Representatives and assists department leaders with oversight of daily operations (including scheduling needs, staffing, training, data analytics, department problem solving, etc.). Welcomes and initiates contact with patient families to obtain necessary registration and insurance information. Registers patients by using the department guidelines. Ensures that all patient accounts flow through the revenue cycle without errors caused by lack of insurance verification, incomplete or inaccurate demographic information or other registration-related errors.
Minimum Job Requirements
Education
High School graduate or Certificate of General Educational Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED) or equivalent experience. Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience
Requires 3 years of experience in Patient Access or experience in a healthcare setting. Epic experience preferred.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

- Ability to ensure professionalism by utilizing de-escalation techniques for appropriate conflict resolution.
- Must meet all competencies and requirements of all areas in Patient Access; including patient placement, and be cross-trained in other areas of Patient Access to support entire Time-of-Service Patient Access areas.
- Staff as needed.
- Show competency in all PAR I and PAR II responsibilities as well as working knowledge of each site within region.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and prioritizing skills necessary to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks done simultaneously.
- Ability to work collaboratively and lead a team.
- Ability to work a weekend schedule, holiday schedule, on-call schedule, and shift hours and/or locations as needed.
- Must have a knowledge of Patient Access downtime functions and responsibilities either through competency or participation for each location within region.
- Knowledge of computer and keyboard, Microsoft Window, Microsoft Office, and basic word processing skills and ability to troubleshoot basic PC issues.
- Proficient data entry skills with accuracy and speed.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Normal clinic environment where there is no reasonable potential for exposure to blood and other high risk body fluids.
Able to sit and stand for a long period of time.
Exerting up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or 10 lbs. of force frequently, and/or a negligible force constantly (more than 2/3 of the time) to move objects. May involve walking or standing.
Regional travel required based on demographic location of site(s).
