Children Unlimited Inc is a non-profit organization that provides an array of supports and and programs to children and their families within the Mount Washington Valley community including: child care, family supports and services, pediatric school-based preschool services, and an outpatient pediatric mental health, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech therapy services; all in- house!
Our outpatient clinic is growing and we are currently seeking to hire a passionate and motivated Pediatric Physical Therapy Assistant with at least 1 year(s) of experience to join our team. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys making a difference in the lives of children with exceptional needs and their families, thrives in a fast-paced setting, has excellent communication and organization skills; and is a strong team player, who loves to learn, within a unique, multi-disciplinary pediatric outpatient setting. The Pediatric Physical Therapy Assistant will be responsible for maintaining a diverse caseload of clients with a wide variety of therapeutic needs and conditions such as but not limited to developmental delays, neurological impairments, congenital conditions/impairments, motor skill deficits/limitations, etc; to provide meaningful, individualized treatment sessions under the supervision and guidance of a Physical Therapist. Due to the wide variety of cases we receive, there are opportunities to grow and enhance therapist's clinical skills across multiple age groups, medical conditions, and diagnosis that are impacting children's ability to keep up with their peers and navigate within all home and community-based environments.
We pride ourselves on utilizing a client-lead and family-centered, team approach among a close-knit and supportive team of: Mental Health/Play Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, child care classroom teachers and assistants; for daily opportunities to collaborate together in order to meet the unique needs of every child. We also provide unique opportunities and flexibility for clinical team members to create their own schedules within full-time hours upon hiring, and conduct services and consultations within both individual and classroom-based settings. Our multi-disciplinary team-based approach provides the opportunity for therapists to cross train within a school-based setting in addition to our outpatient program. This position is available for part-time hours, as an in-person position with occasional opportunities to work remotely.
Duties
- Use completed Physical Therapy Evaluations to guide individualized treatment sessions to children with physical therapy needs
- Provide physical therapy services under the direct supervision of the Physical Therapist
- Assist the Physical Therapist in modifying established treatment goals as appropriate to meet the unique physical therapy needs of each child
- Provide education and support to family/caregivers and other professionals
- Assist the Physical Therapist with completing all scheduling duties to fulfill and maintain expected caseload requirements within appropriate timeframes provided
- Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to provide a comprehensive treatment approach
- Maintain accurate documentation with medical necessity of all progress notes, initial and updated treatment plans, evaluations, re-evaluations, and discharge notes
- Ensuring all documentation is completed within expected timeframes provided on a weekly basis
- Making and receiving phone calls and emails related to: scheduling, patient care with clients, families, care team, and community contacts as needed
- Follow insurance plan requirements to ensure appropriate authorizations are in place as needed prior to providing services
- Participate in continuing education programs to ensure up-to-date knowledge and skills in the field
Requirements
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program
- Current licensure as a Physical Therapy Assistant in the state of New Hampshire
- A minimum of 1 year experience as a PTA, preferably in a multidisciplinary setting
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with children, parents, and colleagues
- Strong organizational skills
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Current BLS/CPR certification
Nice To Haves
- Familiarity or introduction to pediatric specialty areas for: feeding and birth-3 year age groups
- Experience with providing teletherapy services
- Current licensure in the state of Maine
- Passion and experience using child-lead therapeutic approaches
- Previous experience with outpatient, and/or school-based pediatric settings
- Early Intervention experience
- EHR experience
- Basic provider-based medical billing knowledge on billing codes and insurance carrier authorization requirements
