Duties
All employees of Children Unlimited are responsible for the maintenance of certain overall care standards.These include:
Supervision and guidance of the children;
Safety, cleanliness, and health of the children and their environment;
Maintenance of compliance with state regulations and Children Unlimited procedures;
Maintenance of professional relationships with children, families and coworkers including daily communication and maintenance of confidentiality;
Attendance at in-service and staff meetings;
Maintenance of records such as attendance and time sheets; and,
Performance of other duties assigned, either written or verbal.
Requirements
Ideal candidates meet the Vermont Childcare Regulations requirements for a Teacher or Teacher Associate. Candidates should have: At least a Vermont Early Childhood Career Ladder Level Three (3) Certificate; OR At least an associate degree from an accredited college with a major or concentration in Early Childhood, Child or Human Development, Elementary Education, or Child and Family Services and at least twelve (12) months experience working with groups of children from grade three (3) or younger; OR At least a Certificate of Completion from the Registered Child Care Apprenticeship Program; OR At least a Child Care Certificate from the Community College of Vermont and at least twelve (12) months experience working with groups of children from grade three (3) or younger; OR At least successful completion of twenty-one (21) college credits with an early childhood or school age focus and at least twelve (12) months experience working with groups of children from grade three (3) or younger.
- High energy, a good sense of humor, and the ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment.
- An understanding of child development.
- Ability to move freely, including kneel, bend, and squat, to use hands and fingers, to talk and hear voices at many levels, and to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must clear background check, including fingerprinting.
- Must be willing to participate in professional development commensurate with job level.
