Job Summary
Childrens Garden is a faith-based, non-profit, early learning center. We are seeking compassionate and experienced Assistant Teachers to join our dynamic early childhood education team. We are looking for dedicated professionals to work with our infant/toddler, transitional, or preschool classrooms. As an Assistant Teacher, you'll partner closely with the Lead Teacher to create a supportive learning environment for children and families.
Reports to the Lead Teacher and Executive Director
Responsibilities
Working with the Lead Teacher in the classroom and other Assistant Teachers, you will:
- Assist with hands-on activities to meet the needs and interests of the children through play-based learning and structured activities that achieve academic learning goals
- Maintain daily communication with families through verbal and written documentation of children’s activities, learning goals, and development
- Monitor and assist children with self-care activities to ensure their health and safety needs are met, such as sleep/wake routines, personal cleanliness and bathroom routines, meal and snack service, etc.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment and perform classroom housekeeping duties
- Assist the Lead Teacher with assessments of children’s developmental progress, maintaining the classroom environment, and ensuring compliance with state licensing regulations and center policies
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and training sessions
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Educational Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED (required)
- Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, or 12 credits in early childhood education, child development or related field, preferred
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or related field
Employment Requirements
- CPR & AED Infant/Child/Adult certification required (provided by employer)
- Candidates must pass the required state fingerprinting and background check, drug test, TB test, and annual physical exam
- Physical requirements include; ability to stand for periods of time, lift and carry a minimum of 40 lbs. as necessary, work indoors and outdoors, and able to assume postures in low levels to allow physical and visual contact with children, see and hear well enough to keep children safe, and engage in physical activity with children
Skills and Attributes
- Experience and passion for working with children; child care, daycare, or preschool preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues, parents, and students
- Patience, empathy, and understanding to meet each child's individual needs
- Demonstrate unwavering moral values, integrity, and strong character in all interactions and responsibilities
Schedules
- Full-time preferred
- Work Days Monday to Friday
- No nights or weekends

Status: Non-exempt (full or part-time)
