What are the responsibilities and job description for the Healthcare Interpreter position at Childrens Health of Carolina PA?
Monday-Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm. Rotating schedule for evening clinics 4:30pm - 6:30pm one night per week. Will be required to work one weekend per month 8:45am-11:00am (Sat & Sun)
The interpreter is responsible for listening to the provider and orally translating information into the patient’s native language. The interpreter then translates the patient’s response back to the provider. Interpreters may translate such information as the reason for a medical visit, past medical history and family medical history, as well as explaining medical procedures, giving medical care instructions, providing drug information and scheduling follow-up appointments.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide interpreter services, and convey the exact message as opposed to summarizing the information in a way that is subjective.
- Run a report of upcoming appointments and place a reminder call to the patient/legal guardian.
- Assist in making patient appointments.
- Contact patients that did not show up for their appointment and reschedule another appointment.
- High School graduate required
- Excellent organizational skills
- 1 year Medical office experience required
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written) in both English and Spanish.
- Ability to work with others in a tactful and diplomatic manner.
- Must be detail oriented, self-motivated, organized and exemplify the attitude and manner of a team player.
- Basic computer skills are required.
