Summary
The CHS Communications & Public Relations Strategist is responsible for building awareness and visibility of the brand of CHS across North Carolina. Manages communications initiatives and employs strategies for development of philanthropy materials and brand materials with a special focus on public relations and internal communications. Manage development and distribution of Carolina Children Magazine and public relations campaigns. Manage branded philanthropy campaigns to assist with engaging businesses, organizations, and individuals to the mission of CHS (ex. A Place to Call Home, Little Red Stocking). Develop and nurture media partnerships across the state to elevate the brand of CHS. Partner with internal departments on specific initiatives.
Primary Job Functions
Duties
Communications
- Contribute to the development and execution of an internal communications plan.
- Oversee philanthropy marketing functions including marketing and communication materials, webpages, videography, public relations campaigns, social media, digital marketing, etc.
- Partner with the CHS Director of Marketing and Chief Marketing Officer to ensure complimentary messaging.
- Produce high quality content for use in organizational blogs.
- Mange development, content creation, and distribution of Carolina Children magazine.
- Gather qualitative and quantitative insights that steer communications decisions.
- Establish a clear channel of communication and coordination between internal leaders and marketing.
- Build and manage the philanthropy initiatives marketing budgets, concentrating on efficiency and value in obtaining maximum quality, impact, and exposure.
- Responsible for meeting deadlines and managing ongoing communications initiatives.
- Manage updates of CHS Intranet (SharePoint)
- Manage variety of e-newsletters to support internal and external goals.
- Design, write, test, and deploy e-newsletters and email drip campaigns.
Public Relations
- Contribute to the development and execution of an external communications plan.
- Partner with the CHS Director of Marketing and Chief Marketing Officer to ensure complimentary messaging.
- Gather qualitative and quantitative insights that steer public relations decisions.
- Establish and grow strong relationships with media partners statewide.
- Manage media release distribution through direct connections or Meltwater tool.
- Manage variety of e-newsletters to support internal and external goals.
Organization/Time Management
- Strong time management skills required.
- Ability to coordinate multiple efforts, establish timelines, and prioritize deadlines.
- Ability to collaborate in a fast-paced team environment.

Schedule Expectations
Will work a standard scheduled week, which may include weekends, and evenings. The ability to work flexible hours is required to meet business needs. If working remotely, will be required to be available by telephone and email during specified hours. Infrequent travel may be required to conduct business-related activities.
