Position Summary :
The clinical laboratory scientist performs routine and complex laboratory procedures in a prompt, accurate and reliable manner according to established policies, procedures and quality control guidelines.
Position Requirements :
Minimum Education : Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or related field required. Master's Degree preferred.
Minimum Experience : 1-year minimum clinical laboratory experience preferred.
License Required : California Clinical Laboratory Scientist or Clinical Genetic Molecular Biologist Scientist (for Applied Genomics and Hemoglobinopathy Labs Only) license required.
Certification Required : ASCP certification preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities : Clinical laboratory skills, knowledge and abilities are established via training and assessed via annual competencies. Must be familiar with nucleic acid based testing, including the use of clean rooms for employment in the HLA, Applied Genomics and Hemoglobinopathy labs.
Technical Knowledge : Knowledge of modern clinical laboratory equipment and analyzers is required. Must be computer literate
Physical Requirements :
Sit up to 8 hours / day
Stand / walk up to 6 hours / day
Repeated use of instruments / equipment up to 8 hours / day
Lift / push / pull up to 25 lbs.
