Job Overview
The primary responsibilities for the outreach Athletic Trainer are to provide superior rehabilitative care to injured athletes and patients, educate the public on injury prevention, rehabilitation, wellness and other health-related issues, and maintain the highest standards of care to student athletes under the direction of the team physician.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.
Acts as a liaison between family physicians and specialist, the school district, athletes and their parents.
Communicating with athletics, parents, athletic director(s), coaches and physicians regarding athletes’ playing status and ability to return to competition. All communication must be conducted within the bounds of confidentiality.
Liaison between parent, medical assistant, physician, or physician office staff.
Maintain accurate records of injuries, treatments and develop and maintain a budget for the athletic training program supply management.
Maintain appropriate general treatment orders to be reviewed annually and approved by the team physician.
Pre-game/practice taping and preparation.
Provide athletic training services for all home athletic contests and away varsity football games. If a conflict arises between an away varsity football game and a home contest, the varsity football event will supersede. Depending on the school, this may include the weekend and/or evenings.
Provide patient and community education in the areas of sports injury prevention and care.
Providing event coverage. All outreach Athletic Trainers will occasionally be asked to provide medical coverage at outside games, practices, and tournaments.
Responsible for daily stocking of clinical rooms, data collection and data entry for patient history, maintaining clinic flow between all areas of the clinic, patient brace/crutch fitting and product education.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Complexity: Duties assigned are generally complex and may be of substantial intricacy. Work assignment is performed within an established framework under general instructions but requires simultaneous coordination of assigned functions or projects in various stages of completion.
Decision Making: Exercises judgment and discretion, and is responsible for determining the time, place and sequence of the work performed
Communications: Contacts with team members, clients or the public where explanatory or interpretive information is exchanged, defended, and gathered and discretion and judgment are required within the parameters of the job function.
Supervision Received: Performs work with minimal supervisory oversight. Under general supervision, the employee receives assignments and is expected to carry them through to completion with substantial independence. Work is reviewed for adherence to instructions, accuracy, completeness, and conformance to standard practice or precedent. Recurring work clearly covered by guidelines may or may not be reviewed.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training or a related field is required.
Experience: Minimum of three (3) years as a certified Athletic Trainer working in a clinic or hospital environment is required.
Certification(s): Certified as an Athletic Trainer by the Board of Certification (BOC) for Athletic Trainers. Basic Life Support (BLS) and/or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
Licensure(s): State of Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) License for Athletic Trainer.

Salary Information
Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $47,330.13 to $70,995.20
Hourly Salary Range: $22.75 to $34.13
