Job Overview
The HVAC Mechanic performs and assists in any necessary repairs and maintenance of HVAC/Piping Systems. The Mechanic works closely with the Building Automated System (BAS) controls team to achieve maximum efficiency from HVAC equipment.
The vacant HVAC Mechanic position is scheduled for evening shift Monday through Friday. Performs scheduled and on-demand maintenance activities for all HVAC including patient related equipment and related systems to ensure maximum effectiveness, efficiency, and reliability of all HVAC and related equipment and systems.
There are over 3,000 assets in inventory that HVAC Mechanic’s maintain. The evening shift position allows for access to sensitive areas that cannot be maintained during the day shift.
Responsibilities include:
First responder to all building HVAC related service calls on evening shift.
Required testing and maintaining pressurized patient spaces for infection control.
Preventive maintenance on fan coil units and humidifiers that can only be accessed after hours.
Preventive maintenance on air handling units, exhaust fans and unit heaters.
In the event of a critical patient related equipment failure, must troubleshoot and diagnose the problem and take corrective action to fix the piece of equipment.
The vacant position duties are currently being done by the dayshift Mechanical Team. This is creating scheduling difficulties, manpower shortages and accrues potential overtime costs.
Allowing this position to remain vacant will significantly impact our ability to complete preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment and will impede our Joint Commission readiness.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.
Performs basic on-demand electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, safety, and other miscellaneous maintenance duties.
Maintains safe and clean machine rooms as assigned by the manager.
Performs preventative maintenance to ensure proper operation and efficiency of all HVAC equipment as assigned by manager to minimize failures.
Tracks preventative and on-demand maintenance and equipment failures to establish trends on HVAC equipment.
Completes assignments such as basic electrical, plumbing, steam, HVAC, medical gas, safety, and other miscellaneous duties in the maintenance field.
In the event of an equipment failure, diagnoses and initiates corrective action and resources necessary to ensure immediate repair and return to service.
Coordinates with vendors and contractors on various projects and permits.

Qualifications
EDUCATION – High School Diploma or Equivalent.
EXPERIENCE – Three years healthcare, industrial, or commercial HVAC experience.
EQUIVALENCY – Completion of apprenticeship in related field will substitute for the HVAC certification.
CERTIFICATION(S) – One year HVAC certification.

Salary Information
Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $49,641.49 to $74,462.23
Hourly Salary Range: $23.87 to $35.80
