Job Overview
The Respiratory Therapist (RT) New Grad provides family-centered care as demonstrated by recognizing the patient, family and/or designee as a full partner in providing compassionate and coordinated care based on respect for patient’s preferences, values, and needs. The RT New Grad provides healthcare related education to patients and families; and functions effectively within respiratory and inter-professional teams, fostering open communication, mutual respect, teamwork, and shared decision-making to achieve quality patient care.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Guidelines: Trains in the field and assists higher level personnel to acquire learning through practical experience and works to develop full functional ability in the Medical -Surgical Areas.
Complexity: Performs routine and/or basic tasks common to the field. Procedures, methods, and techniques to be used are well established with options to be considered well defined. Tools, work aids, and materials to be used are specified.

Qualifications
Education: Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy or Respiratory Care is required at the time of hire.
Certification(s):
Certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care(NBRC) at the time of hire.
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association is required at the time of hire.
Certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is required within six months of hire.
Licensure(s): State of Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) Respiratory Therapist license
Physical Requirements
Body Movement: Will frequently stand/walk up to 12 hours per day. Will frequently use hands while keyboarding and writing. Will frequently sit up to 2-4 hours per day while accessing computer, talking on the telephone, and while attending meetings.
Back and Upper Body (lifting and carrying): Will occasionally lift/exert force up to 35 pounds/16 kilos.
Vision: Constantly uses sight in performance for daily job duties.
