Department: Speech Pathology Service
Hours per week: 1
Shift: PRN 7 days per week. Hours 8am-5pm Must commit to at least 2 weekend days per month and some holiday weekend coverage. Preference will be given for applicants who are able to provide weekday PRN coverage as well.
Job Overview
The Speech Language Pathologist I provides diagnostic evaluations and intervention programs for children with speech, language, learning, feeding/swallowing or hearing disorders in all settings in which services are offered including but not limited to inpatient, outpatient, outreach and telehealth programs.
The inpatient PRN speech pathologist position requires a commitment of signing up to work at least two weekend days per month. Preference will be given to those applicants with weekday availability as well.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Clinician completes case management activities consistent with department quality assurance and quality improvement standards.
Clinician collaborates with the family, physicians, schools and other educational institutions, and other providers to ensure the continuum of care for the child and optimal clinical services. All interactions are non-judgmental and based on mutual respect.
Clinician demonstrates leadership and participates in systematic, planned professional development to improve the clinical, educational, research, and advocacy goals of the department and hospital.
Patient Care - Diagnostic Evaluations: Clinician completes diagnostic evaluations consistent with contemporary, evidence-based practice in speech-language pathology and department quality assurance standards. Clinician incorporates principles of cultural-competence and family-centered care into clinical services.

Proficient knowledge in basic communication sciences, normal development, and current therapeutic management techniques with children with speech, language, learning, feeding/swallowing and hearing disorders preferred.
SCOPE AND LEVEL
Guidelines: Guidelines are generally numerous, well established, and directly applicable to the work assignment. Work assignment and desired results are explained by general oral or written instructions.
Complexity: Duties assigned are generally repetitive and restricted in scope but may be of substantial intricacy. Employee primarily applies standardized practices.

Qualifications
EDUCATION – Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology or related field.
EXPERIENCE – One year pediatric speech-language pathology experience in a hospital, rehabilitation, or school setting; One year experience with evaluation and treatment of children with speech, language, learning, and hearing disorders. Preference for applicants with inpatient hospital experience, particularly with traumatic brain injury and feeding/swallowing experience in pediatrics.
CERTIFICATION(S) – BLS for Healthcare Providers/CPR; American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC)-Speech Language Pathologist
LICENSURE – State of Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) license

Salary Information
Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $73,044.66 to $109,567.00
Hourly Salary Range: $35.12 to $52.68
