What are the responsibilities and job description for the Financial Counselor Business Office position at Childrens Hospital of Birmingham?
Responsible for evaluating patient / family financial and insurance status. Determine if patient / family would likely qualify for Medicaid / ALLKids and assists family with completion of applications. Serves as person of contact for self pay families as well as various departments within COA. Assists families through the financial assistance process from application to approval; reviews all applications; approval process and notification to families and Business Office.

Requires High School diploma or equivalent, college coursework preferred.
Requires minimum of 1 year experience in healthcare / office setting. Insurance verification and medical terminology required. Financial counseling experience strongly preferred. Strong computer skills required. Demonstrates highly effective verbal and written communication required.
