We are seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals to join our Language Services team as interpreters. This role is essential in bridging communication between our diverse patient population and healthcare providers to ensure equitable and effective care.
Minimum Requirements :
Fluency in Spanish and English (spoken and written).
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Successful completion of our department's established internal skills assessment process, which includes :
A third-party evaluation of language proficiency.
An in-house skills assessment.
An interview
Professional, service-oriented, respectful manner using skills in active listening and problem solving.
Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
Demonstrate a team approach and ability to multitask.
Preferred Qualifications :
National certification in medical interpreting (e.g., CMI, CHI).
Prior experience in interpretation, especially in a healthcare setting.
Knowledge of medical terminology and cultural competence in serving diverse communities.
Key Responsibilities :
Provide both in-person and over-the-phone interpretation services.
Accurately record and input information into the department's operating systems.
Facilitate clear, accurate, and culturally sensitive communication between patients, families, and healthcare providers.
Uphold strict confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all interactions.
Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to ensure optimal support for patient care.
Adapt communication methods to meet the specific needs of patients, including children and individuals with limited health literacy.
