The Patient Advocate will help patient and families cope with the complex environment by explaining policies, connecting you with appropriate staff, answering questions or assisting with problem solving. The Patient Advocate will act as a personal link to hospital and ensure that the rights of a patient/family are respected.**TUESDAY - SATURDAY SHIFT***Pay RangeMinimum $19.54 Midpoint $25.90 Maximum $32.24Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.Experience:Minimum of 3 years of experience in healthcare patient relations or similarEducation:Preferred: Bachelor's degree or 4 years additional experience in lieu of education.Patient Advocacy Certificate through Beryl Institute (or obtain within 12 months of hire)Training:None required.Special Skills:Excellent written and verbal communication skills, critical thinking and crisis intervention skills required. Proficiency in Excel, Word and comparable software. Must demonstrate the skills and knowledge necessary to participate in age appropriate communication with patients served in the hospital. Must demonstrate basic knowledge of principles of growth and development and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to their needs. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to work effectively with the primary population of patients and families served by CHOC.
