Founded in 1970, Children’s Hunger Alliance (CHA) is a statewide nonprofit organization dedicated to ending childhood hunger, collaborating with organizations throughout Ohio to provide nutritious meals to at-risk children who need them most. CHA partners with in-home childcare providers, childcare centers, afterschool, and summer programs to provide balanced, nutritious meals to children in their care. Additionally, they work with schools to increase breakfast participation and provide weekend meals to students. CHA educators also deliver nutrition education and lead children in physical activities to support children’s long-term health.
Job Purpose:
Seasonal; 25-30 hours per week; May 12 – July 18, 2025
Assist with processing applications, training, and monitoring summer program partners participating in the agency-sponsored USDA Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) for the Northeast OH region. Additionally, assist with outreach activities to expand the number of partners in the region.
Job Duties and Responsibilities for assigned region:
- Process SFSP applications and assist with ordering meals and adjusting food orders based on attendance for sites throughout the summer.
- Daily travel to summer sites across the region to complete SFSP monitoring visits to ensure program compliance.
- Provide support and guidance to out-of-compliance sites, including technical assistance, re-training, corrective actions, and closure of review.
- Assist with annual site training on SFSP program regulations, agency procedures, and software use.
- Provide daily communication and customer service to answer questions and ensure participating sites understand program regulations.
- Help to establish, build, maintain, and/or support key relationships with afterschool and summer partners, local community, and faith-based organizations.
- Coordinate with the Claims team and others to provide a seamless SFSP in the areas of recordkeeping, food service procedures, and acceptance of food delivery.
- Participate in regional, state, and team meetings (in-person and virtual).
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Job Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in Nutrition, Public Health, Youth Development, Childcare, Education, Communications, Social Work, or similar fields.
- Proficiency with using Microsoft WORD, EXCEL, OUTLOOK and PDF forms.
- Organization/communication/time management/attention to detail skills.
- Ability to understand and adhere to specific federal, state and agency regulations and procedures.
- Customer service skills including attentiveness, problem-solving, flexibility, and anticipating program needs and challenges.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to speak in front of large group settings.
- Multi-tasking and juggling of competing priorities while remaining attentive to detail.
- Unflappable, resilient, passionate, dynamic, and positive.
