Overview
The Epic, Research Analyst supports the mission, vision, and strategic priorities of Children's Mercy and Information Technology. The Analyst serves as the technical Health Informatics and Technology (HIT) subject matter expert for the clinical applications. The Analyst manages projects and programs in Research and assists with more complex projects. The Analyst maintains and provides technical support for assigned clinical applications. The Analyst is a liaison to the care delivery teams and develops, implements, and effectively uses clinical technologies to enhance patient care. They collaborate to positively impact patient safety and care quality.
The ideal candidate will have Epic certification or experience.

Responsibilities
Serves as a Health informatics resource for clinical departments:
- Designs and recommends innovative ideas, processes, and/or procedures for enhancements, additions, and modifications to improve existing systems.
- Serves as technical subject matter expert for department and organizational committees and initiatives; participates in the development of technologies to support clinical processes.
- Responds to system issues and user requests for assistance.
- Provides 24/7 support as part of an on-call rotation.
- Initiates Incident Management processes to resolve issues/services as soon as possible.
- Collaborates to provide training and communication about changes and fulfill optimization requests
- Configure and optimize applications and technology to meet the specific requirements of clinical workflows.
- Collaborates with Information Technology to ensure that clinical and operational systems meet security requirements.
- Maintains application documentation, back-up procedures, and business continuance.
- Test systems and technology to identify defects and develop mitigation plan.
- Follow change management processes
- Follow change management and ITIL processes.
- Apply regulatory requirements and professional standards to the design, build, and optimization of clinical technologies.
- Implement clinical documentation and decision support systems that improve the quality of care and ensure patient safety.
- Collaborates with vendors to resolve issues and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Manages IT projects and provides expertise to implement new clinical applications and technologies.
- Applies project management skills, tools, and lean methodologies.
- Assists the planning, execution, and delivery of complex programs.
- Bachelor's Degree preferred, and 3-5 years' experience. Clinical experience, health informatics, Information Systems, or Information Technology experience OR
- Associate's Degree and 5-7 years' experience. Clinical experience, health informatics, Information Systems, or Information Technology experience OR
- High School diploma, or equivalent, and 7 or more years experience. Clinical experience, health informatics, Information Systems, or Information Technology experience.
- At least one application-specific Epic certification relevant to the Research Department required within 120 days of hire.
- Must complete Epic certification training, if not already Epic certified, in the most recent version of the Epic EHR product.
