The Children’s Museum has an opening for a Museum Associate to ensure a positive guest experience for all visitors. It is the role of the Museum Associate to facilitate play based interactions with guests and maintain engaging, clean and safe exhibit spaces.
Position Specifications: Part time, 16 - 23hrs/week, including at least one weekend day with additional hours as needed to meet business needs for occasional weekends, evenings, holidays and events. We are hiring the following:
- One part-time position at 23 hours/week
- Four part-time positions at 16 hours/week

Rate: $20.00/hour (additional $1/hour for bilingual proficiency in Spanish)
Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - Greet and welcome adults and children, engage in conversations and facilitate in-exhibit play
- Maintain clean, safe and inviting environments in all Museum spaces
- Actively address guest feedback and work to improve overall guest experience
- Maintain current knowledge of all programming, special events and exhibit schedules
- Support Front Desk and Café operations as necessary
- Operate exhibit spaces for opening, resetting and closing including consumable maintenance
- Collaborate with team and take initiative to provide assistance to others on a regular basis
- Facilitate programming and engage in playful interactions within the exhibit spaces
- Support Museum Educators by participating in off-site school outreaches as offered
- Create invitation and inspiration for visiting children and families through play facilitation
- Support Museum after-hours events as required (minimum one event per month)
- Assist in training new employees when assigned
- Coordinate with and support volunteers throughout the Museum
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements

- Fluent English proficiency: writing, reading and speaking skills, bilingual Spanish preferred

- Must pass Museum pre-employment screening process
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Ability to load, unload and set up materials and equipment (up to 50 lbs.)
- Frequently move, transport, position equipment up to 50 lbs. across campus for various Museum operations needs
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time indoors and outdoors (up to 6 hours)
- Some duties may need to be performed at elevated heights and navigating uneven surfaces
- Effectively operate a two way radio to frequently communicate and exchange information with staff
- Operate a computer and other office equipment
- Frequently communicate with staff or guests with daily inquiries and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
- Climbing stairs, ladders and wearing a helmet are required when working in the outdoor structure “Adventure Forest”
Work Environment:
This position operates in both an indoor and outdoor environment where variable temperatures, light levels, crowds are moderate to very noisy sound levels are common. The employee is required to interact and communicate with adults and children frequently, and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers, as well as common cleaning supplies.
